2023 TOURNAMENT RULES

OFFICIAL WINNI DERBY RULES & REGULATIONS

1. Derby participants may enter in person at participating locations or online (please see nhscouting.org/donate/ special-events/ for details). The entry fee is $55.00 for Adult Division and $40.00 for Junior Division. Junior Division participants must be under the age of 16 upon completion of the Derby. Participating locations will have entry forms until the close of business on Thursday, May 19, 2023. Online registration will be available until 11 pm on May 18, 2023.

2. Late registration will be available on Friday, May 19, 2023, at Wolfeboro Town Dock - Weigh Station, Wolfeboro, and Goodhue on Lovejoy – Weigh Station, Meredith, for $60.00 per adult and $45.00 per Junior. No one will be able to enter after that. Late registrations are valid only for Saturday and Sunday.

3. Proof of Derby registration shall be in the angler’s possession while participating in the Derby and must be presented to any Derby Official upon request. The Derby registration form is non-transferable and non-refundable.

4. Each adult participant must possess a valid 2023 NH fishing license, and all fish must be taken according to NH Fish & Game Regulations.

5. Only Landlocked Salmon and Lake Trout have taken from Lake Winnipesaukee shall be eligible.

6. Any and all fish in the Derby participant’s possession must be dead. Discovery of any living fish in a participant’s possession will result in immediate Derby disqualification.

7. All boats need to comply with NH Marine Patrol guidelines and laws. Keep a proper distance from shore and other boats. All boats operating after sunset until sunrise must display visible lights.

8. ALL INDIVIDUALS OCCUPYING A BOAT, REGARDLESS OF AGE, MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE DERBY BEFORE ANYONE WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR PRIZES.

9. All fish entered will be examined by an NH Fish and Game Biologist and/or Derby officials. Participants must enter all fish whole, not gutted, gaffed, frozen, or altered in any way. All Salmon entered must be at least twenty (20”) in. long. All Lake Trout entered must be at least twenty-two (22”) in. long.

10. Each participant entering fish must fill out an official fish entry form to the satisfaction of the Derby officials. Participants must also produce a witness who can verify that the entered fish was caught in the presence of the witness and, to the best of his/her knowledge, in a manner consistent with the rules and regulations of the Derby and the laws and regulations of the NH Fish and Game Department. The witness will be required to sign the official entry form. If a witness is not available for those fishing alone or in a single Kayak, a photo must be taken upon catch and texted with a time and date stamp to the derby official(s) at 603-854-9626.

11. All fish entered must be checked in on the day caught. Fish entered after 6:00 pm will be eligible for the following day’s prizes. Winning fish shall be determined first by weight, then length, and finally by the earliest date and time entered.

12. Any participant who qualifies for a Division Grand Prize in more than one division may claim only ONE Division Grand Prize for a division of his or her choosing. Individuals may be eligible for more than one daily prize. Prizes will be awarded in three divisions: Adult Salmon, Junior Salmon, and Lake Trout.

13. All daily prize winners and Grand Prize winners must report to Derby headquarters on Sunday, May 21, 2023, to claim prizes. Special arrangements may be made upon request with Derby officials.

14. Each participant agrees that the decision of the judges is final. In the event of fraud or other rules, or violations discovered subsequent to the awarding of any prize the judges reserve the right to change their decision.

15. No person directly associated with the Winni Derby, including a member of the Daniel Webster Council, the BSA committee producing the Derby, or a Derby sponsor, will be eligible for prizes.

16. Each participant and witness agree to comply with the official rules and regulations of the Winni Derby and the laws of the State of NH. All winners of any Grand or Major prize will be required to sign a sworn affidavit provided by the Derby. If requested, the participant and the witness agree to submit to a polygraph examination (lie detector) at a time and place determined by the Derby officials. Refusal to submit to a polygraph examination by either the participant or the witness may result in entry disqualification. Failure of either to pass the polygraph to the satisfaction of the Derby officials shall result in entry disqualification.

17. Each participant shall hold harmless the Daniel Webster Council, BSA, as well as all officers, directors, and employees of the organization and any and all Derby officials, committee members, sponsors, agents, and affiliates for any bodily injury, including death or any other damages sustained as a participant during the Winni Derby.

18. Prize winners shall permit Winni Derby unlimited use of his or her name and photos for marketing and publicity purposes. Winners shall be responsible for paying all applicable taxes.
