Tournament
Rules
1. This
tournament is a MRMTC member only tournament. Only MRMTC members and non-member
guests are eligible to fish this tournament.
2. All
members in good standing are automatically registered to fish this tournament.
3.
Tournament entry is on a per boat basis. A member may fish on a member or
non-member boat. In lieu of fishing on a boat, a member may fish from the
shores of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
4. Each
entry may fish only one day. However, a member boat
may fish multiple days if the member's fishing “partner” is also a club member
and has declared a fishing day. The member, “partner” who
declared a fishing day must be on board the boat on the fishing day of their
entry for any catches on that day to be eligible for award
consideration.
5. Members
must declare their fishing day by 11:59 PM on the
evening before their declared day of fishing. To declare a fishing day, a
representative from the boat must call (732) 612-8052 and leave a message with
the following information: Entrants name, boat name, fishing day, and day and
time of call. Boats may also declare a
fishing day via the MRMTC App, same time constraints apply.
6. Boats
must not depart Manasquan Inlet before 12:00 AM on their declared day of
fishing and must return through Manasquan Inlet on the same day. Similarly,
members fishing from shore must not commence fishing before 12:00 AM on their
declared day of fishing.
7. The 2023 tournament is a release tournament. Fish being entered for award
consideration require submission by email to WIN@mrmtc.com of a completed weigh slip listing
“release”, the length of the fish, and a video
of the fish length measurement as detailed in Weigh in Execution section of the
rules. Legal
size fish (28” to 31”) may be harvested but require video documentation of the
fish length and a weigh slip submission to qualify for points.

8. A
completed MRMTC Official Weigh Slip must be submitted by the member for all
Striped bass that are to be considered for awards. A photo of the completed weigh slip and videos
of the fish length measurement shall be electronically submitted via email to WIN@mrmtc.com by 6 PM on the day the fish was released. See
details in Weigh in Execution section of rules.
9. In the
event of a boat becoming disabled prior to leaving Manasquan Inlet, the entry
may be transferred to a substitute boat and/or a substitute fishing day. The
boat disability must be reported by calling (732) 612-8052 and leaving a
message with the following information: Entrant’s name, boat name, fishing
date, nature of the boat disability, date, and time of call.
10. In the
event of a boat becoming disabled after leaving Manasquan Inlet, a substitute
fishing day will be granted if the following conditions are satisfied:
a. Fishing
lines must not have been placed in the water.
b. The boat
must return to Manasquan Inlet by 10 AM on the same day it departed.
c. A participant on the boat must call (732)
612-8052 as soon as the boat enters Manasquan Inlet and leave a message with
the following information: Entrants name, boat name, fishing day, nature of the
boat disability, date, and time of call.
11. Awards will be made for the top 3 entrants based on striped
bass total release points for up to 6 fish per entrant.

12. The
official tournament radio channel is: VHF Channel 65.
13. All
State, Federal and IGFA Rules and Regulations apply to this tournament except
as follows:
a. A fish
may be hooked by anyone other than the angler provided the rod is immediately
transferred to the angler after the hook-up. From that time forward, the angler
must fight the fish alone until boated or released.
b. The use
of umbrella rigs and wire line while trolling for striped bass is permitted.
c. Snag and
drop is not permitted. A snagged bait fish must be transferred to a single
circle hook on another rod.
14. There is
no limit to the number of rods used while fishing. The use of commercial
fishing gear is not permitted.
15. Anglers
targeting striped bass with natural bait and/or natural bait/artificial lure
combinations are required to use non offset inline circle hooks.
16. Fish
caught on a member’s boat during the course of a non-member charter trip are
not eligible for award consideration regardless of who the angler is. Fish
caught by a member who is being paid as a crew member, i.e. a mate, captain,
etc. during the course of a fishing trip, are not eligible for any prize or
trophy.
17. Prize
Money will be paid by check and made out to the Entrant’s name. Prize money
will be distributed to the winners upon determining the official results.
18. The
tournament may be altered, cancelled, postponed, or extended to other dates at
the discretion of the Tournament Committee.
19. All
interpretations of the Rules and decisions by the Tournament Committee are
final.
As there is
no official entry form, a member’s participation in the Fall Striped Bass
Tournament will be automatically considered to be that member’s acknowledgement
of compliance with the MRMTC General Disclaimer, as follows:
All boat
owners, their crews, and anglers participate in the tournament voluntarily and
at their own risk. They hereby agree to release and hold harmless the MRMTC,
it’s Officers, Trustees, Agents, and employees from and against all claims,
Damages, losses, and expenses – including all attorneys’ fees incurred as a
result of their suffering bodily injury, illness, death, economic loss, or
property damage while participating in this tournament. By calling in a fishing
day and/or signing the Calcutta agreement I acknowledge that I have liability
insurance coverage for my vessel and crew. The decision to fish or not relative
to weather or any other reason is at the sole discretion of the participants.
The entrant may elect to withdraw from the tournament if they are concerned
with weather related sea conditions. All entry monies will be fully refunded as
long as an officer, a trustee, or a tournament committee member is notified
prior to the time of the captains meeting. Participants must comply with all
applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations. MRMTC assumes no
responsibility in that or any other regard. Any non-complying fish will be
disqualified. I agree to the aforementioned terms and conditions and represent
that anyone invited to fish on the boat entered, has been informed and has
accepted accordingly. Participation constitutes acceptance of the
aforementioned terms and conditions and that the crew has been notified of
these and all applicable, state, federal and IGFA rules.

In the event of a points tie for 1st,
2nd, 3rd place or any Calcutta category, the measured
length of each fish submitted will be rounded down to the next inch. The length
measurements of all fish submitted will be added to determine a total length.
The largest total length will qualify. (Example:
Member A submits 2 fish - 48.5” & 49.25” for 60 points and Member B submits
3 fish – 41.5”, 43.5”, & 44.25” for 60 points. Applying tie breaker rules: Member A- total
fish length is 97” (48” + 49”). Member B – total fish
length is 128” (41” + 43” + 44”). Member
B would get 1st and Member A 2nd place.)
After applying above tie breaker rule if there is still a tie:
for 1st Place, 40% will be awarded to the two entries. No second place.
for 2nd Place, 25% will be awarded to the two entries. No third place.
for third 10% will be awarded to each of the two entries.

Calcutta Entry
1. Calcutta
payments must be made in cash.
2. Complete the
2023 Fall Striped Bass Tournament Calcutta Entry Form.
3. Bring Entry
form and Calcutta payment to Captains meeting.
4. Deliver the
Calcutta entry form and cash payment to MRMTC in one of the following ways:
a.
Mail to MRMTC, PO Box 251, Brielle, NJ 08730. The envelope must be
postmarked no later than noon, November 1, 2023
b.
Drop off at Carton Law Firm, 40 Union Ave., Manasquan, NJ 08736. The envelope
must be delivered no later than 12 Noon, November 1, 2023
“Weigh-In” Execution – How to submit a fish for award consideration
The 2023 tournament is a release tournament. Fish being entered for award
consideration require submission by email to WIN@mrmtc.com of a completed weigh slip listing
“release”, the fish length measurement, and a video (pictures) of the fish
length measurement.
All fish must be measured on an Official MRMTC
Ruler, provided at Captains meeting, or can be picked up at Deep Creek Marina
office.
1. The
requirements for determining a fish’s length are as follows:
a. Determine striped bass length per the method specified in the following link: https://www.fishinjersey.com/how-to-measure-gamefish/ : b. Lay fish on top of or alongside a measuring rule, not measured over the body. Fish are measured from the tip of the snout (mouth closed) to the longest part of the pinched tail, to give maximum length.
c. Take video of the fish as follows: Take a video of the overall fish while being measured. The video must clearly show the snout (mouth closed) at the “zero” end of ruler and the tail end of the fish as the length is being determined.
A video is the preferred method to document the fish length. If video is not available submit pictures that show the overall fish on the ruler and clearly show the snout (mouth closed) at the “zero” end of ruler and the tail end of the fish as the length is being determined. Videos (pictures) submitted must be clear, and the ruler legible in the picture.
The Club Tournament committee reserves the right to disqualify any video (picture) submission that does not adhere to the measurement/documentation rules.
2. Complete an
MRMTC Official Weigh Slip clearly denoting the length
of each fish. Up to six fish may be listed on one
weigh slip.
3. Take a
picture of the completed MRMTC Official Weigh Slip.
4. Electronically
submit the Weigh slip and fish video (pictures) for each fish up to 6 fish per
entrant. via email to WIN@mrmtc.com.
5. The deadline
for submitting weigh slips for awards consideration is 6:00 PM on the declared
fishing day.
