Tournament Rules

GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Captain’s Meeting: August 27th at North Palm Beach Marina

  2. (Registration/Calcutta / Entry 6 to 9 PM)

  3. Awards Dinner: December 3rd at North Palm Beach Marina

    Dinner and bar will be from 7 to 9pm.

  4. Fishing Days: September 1st to November 29th

  5. Fishing Hours: 30 minutes before sunrise-30 minutes after sunset Daytime only

  6. Boundaries: From 27.30.00 latitude (Ft. Pierce Inlet area) to 25.35.00 latitude

    (Fowey Light ) and no further offshore than 079.30.00 longitude.

  7. BOATS CAN LEAVE FROM ANY INLET BETWEEN FT PIERCE AND MIAMI.

  8. WEIGH INS WILL BE IN STUART, JUPITER, PALM BEACH, BOYNTON,

    HILLSBORO, FT LAUDERDALE, MIAMI.

  1. Top release points 1st,2nd,3rd $200

  2. Heaviest Overall 1st,2nd,3rd $200

  3. Overall Total Points 1st,2nd,3rd $200

  4. 2 Fish Aggregate 1st,2nd,3rd $200

FISHING REGULATIONS

  1. Boats can use both electric and conventional tackle.

  2. One hook per rod.

  3. The fish must be greater than 47 LJF inches to qualify for weigh in.

  4. Fish caught on conventional tackle can be fought from the holder.

  5. Leader attached to the hook can not be longer than 10ft.

  6. Mutilated fish will not be eligible for weigh in

  7. Boats must declare that they are fishing the day prior to fishing.

  8. No limit to how many rods can be fished

  9. Boats must declare where they are leaving and returning to so that we can insure

    we will be able to weigh your fish upon your return

CATCH VALIDATION

  1. The South Florida Swordfish Slam will be utilizing video catch verification on all participating boats. Each team will be prompted to show a phone or GPS with date and time as well as CLEARLY saying the word of the day as well as the provided catch card, which will be in your tournament registration folder from the captains meeting. The card of the day is required to be shown with each release or harvest!

  2. The South Florida Summer Slam will utilize video catch/ release verification for all participating boats. Every boat must supply their release footage at the end of fishing upon check-in. Release videos are required in order for your fish to count. Videos must be texted or emailed to Daniel no later than 4hrs after returning from fishing (561-665-1613 or Jupiterbillfish@gmail.com) VIDEOS ARE REQUIRED!

  3. Video must clearly capture the species of fish during the fight and the release of each fish. Failure to qualify species and release of fish will result in disqualification of fish.

  4. Any question or concern regarding fish verification will be determined by the Tournament Committee alone.

POINT STRUCTURE & SCORING

  1. Release points will be awarded as follows:

  2. 75pts for a released sword

  3. 1pt per pound on fish caught on electric reels

  4. In case of a tie, the winner will be determined by which boat/angler reaches the

    number of points that resulted in the tie first by time.

  5. In all cases the decision of the Tournament Committee is final.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Boats and anglers must comply with all state and federal fishing regulations and licensing requirements. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

  2. All boats must carry a valid HMS permit!

  3. Refunds: No refunds for entry fees will be given for any reason including, but not

    limited to acts of nature, war, national security, Covid-19, vessel malfunctions or travel restrictions. Calcutta fees will be returned (minus the % for service fee) if a team is unable to compete.
