Tournament Rules
2022 CAMO Classic Rules
- Eligible species for competition
purposes are Blackfin Tuna (Thunnus atlanticus) or Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus
albacares), Dolphin (Coryphaena hippurus), and Wahoo (Acanthocybium
solandri).
- Winners will be decided by the
combined aggregate weight of an entrants heaviest Tuna (Blackfin or
Yellowfin), Dolphin, and Wahoo.
Must weigh 2 out of 3 eligible species to qualify.
- Any rule changes or additions at
the captain’s meeting will take precedence over these printed rules.
- This is a captain’s choice
tournament. It is up to the captain
of each boat to determine if he/she and crew will compete on their
declared tournament days.
- Online registration will remain
open and must be received by 9:00 pm on Thursday, May 19th.
- A captain may enter the same
boat twice in the CAMO Classic and it must be the sole boat fished for the
duration of the tournament. Entrant must declare / fish both days of the
first entry prior to declaring a fish day for the second entry.
- Replacement boats may not be
entered for any reason after 9:00 pm on Thursday, May 19th.
- Each entry is eligible to win 1
primary prize and 1 place in each tournament within a tournament entered.
- Polygraph tests will be
administered at the sole discretion of the tournament committee. Captain
and an occupant of the winning boat must be available for a polygraph test
on Thursday, June 23rd. Refusal by any participant or occupant
of a registered boat will result in disqualification. All decisions of the
polygraph examiner are final.
- By signing the entry form, all
captains, anglers, and occupants of their boat hereby agree to all rules
and regulations and consent that tournament officials may use without
payment or restriction, any photographs, video or interviews in which he
or she may appear for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to
resale, advertising and promotional material.
- The tournament committee
reserves the right to refuse an entry into the tournament.
- The tournament director and
tournament committee, at their discretion, can enforce the rules or make
decisions on any other circumstances that may arise during the event. The
tournament director and/or the tournament committee’s decisions are final.
- Sponsors, tournament director,
and employees of Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina are eligible to enter
and win prizes just like any other entrant.
- Violation of the tournament
rules will subject the boat and angler to disqualification from the entire
tournament without refund.
Tournament Days & Times
- Tournament fishing days begin
Friday, May 20th through Wednesday, June 22nd.
- Each entry is eligible to fish 2
out of 34 potential tournament fishing days.
- An entrant must declare their
fish day by e-mailing FishCAMOClassic@gmail.com no later than 6:00 a.m. on
their declared fish day. The e-mail must include captain, boat name, and
the declared fishing day.
- An entrant may un-declare their
fish day by 6:00 a.m. only by e-mailing FishCAMOClassic@gmail.com if no fishing lines have been
deployed.
- No lines-in or lines-out
time. A fishing day must be
conducted within an entrants declared calendar day: Midnight –
Midnight
- If Small Craft Advisories are
posted on local NOAA Weather Radio by 6:00 a.m., then that day will not be
a tournament fishing day. The safety of the participating vessel is
ultimately the responsibility of the captain.
Fishing
- All anglers must have a valid
South Carolina saltwater fishing license and comply with South Carolina
and Federal Laws.
- All vessels must have on board an
Atlantic Highly Migratory Species (HMS) Permit:
https://hmspermits.noaa.gov
- Eligible tournament species are
not allowed to be on-board at the start of a declared fishing day.
- Boats entering the ocean on
tournament days must do so from South Carolina navigable waters.
- Two or more boats congregating
during a declared fishing day will be disqualified from the tournament.
Congregation is defined as two or more boats touching and/or passing
objects to another boat. Approval is not required for life threatening
emergencies.
Weigh-In
- Official weigh station is at
Charleston Harbor Marina scales (top of A-Dock) and will remain open until
5:00 pm. An entrant is eligible to weigh-in the day after their declared
fish day from 8:00 am to 11:00 a.m.
- Entrant may bring their fish to
weigh in by boat or car. Only 1 fish per species may be weighed per
declared fishing day.
- An entrant declaring to fish on
Wednesday, June 22nd must weigh their fish by 5:00 pm and will
not be allowed to weigh-in on Thursday, June 23rd.
- The crew is responsible for
unloading and presenting their fish for weighing.
- Fish must be fresh, not frozen,
fit for human consumption, not mutilated, nor its weight altered in any
manner. Hook and gaff marks are acceptable. Crew must remove all hooks, lures,
and leaders prior to presenting the fish for weigh-in.
- In the event of a tie, the
winner will be determined by the earliest weigh-in date and time.
- Only a registered boat’s captain
may protest a fish weighed in the tournament. All protests must be delivered
in writing to the weighmaster on the day the protested catch is weighed no
later than thirty minutes (30) after the last fish weighed. All decisions
of the tournament officials regarding protests are final. There is a
$750.00 cash charge for registering a protest. If the protest is
validated, the $750.00 will be returned. The captain who submits any
protest must provide indisputable evidence to prove the infraction.
