254 of 271 boats competed on Day 2 of the 65th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament, presented by Jarrett Bay Boatworks. The fleet racked up 54 blue marlin releases, 2 white marlin releases and 5 Sailfish releases. ANN WARRICK captured the Gregory Poole Marine First Release of the Day, earning them $5,000 right off-the-bat for a blue marlin released at 9:32AM. SEA TOY weighed in an impressive 463.7lb blue marlin, taking 2nd Place on the leaderboard- just shy of C-STUDENT’s 1st Place 470.2lb catch. A 500lb marlin has yet to grace the scales, so the Fabulous Fishermans’ prize payout of $739,500 is still on the line.
The 58’ Jarrett Bay, SKIP HOOK dominated the scales with a 59.3lb. Dolphin claiming $2,000 in daily prize money. They are currently in the lead in the Parker Boats Dolphin Winner Take All division with a payout of $539,750. DOUBLE B landed in 2nd Place for the Daily Dolphin prize worth $1,000.
HIGH YIELD brought the first and heaviest tuna of the tournament to the scales today. The 42.8lb catch earned the team $2,000 and could earn them an additional $5,000 if they hold onto 1st Place throughout the week. REAL LOVE weighed in a 36.6lb tuna taking 2nd Place.
GRAND SLAM claimed the Level VIII Daily Release prize worth $44,625, taking the lead in that division’s weekly release points. If they remain in 1st Place, they could take home an additional $133,875. Sponsored by Albemarle Boats.
RETRIEVER captured the Level IX: Non-Sonar Daily Release prize worth $32,229.17 and moved into 2nd Place for the week, putting them in the running for an additional $58,012.50.
