Monday RECAP
Here's the down low from Day 1 of the 65th Annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament presented by Major Sponsor Jarrett Bay Boatworks. 271 boats entered for their shot at the record breaking $5,835,075 purse. Of the 271, 218 boats braved rough seas and fished today. The fleet racked up 46 releases: 42 blues, 2 whites, and 2 sailfish. The scales saw 1 qualifying blue marlin and 8 gamefish.
C-STUDENT brought in a Blue Marlin weighing 470.2lbs. The coveted Fabulous Fisherman’s title and prize payout of $739,500 is still up for grabs!
The gamefish division is off to a promising start! TUNA TANGO brought a whopping 41.lb Dolphin to the scales, earning them 1st Place and $2,000 in daily prize money. Their catch also places them in the lead for Level VII Dolphin WTA and a $539,750 payout, sponsored by Parker Boats. FOLLOWING SEAS landed 2nd in the daily Mahi division with their 18.4lb catch, taking home a $1,000 payout.
WELDOR’S ARK dominates the wahoo division with their impressive 59.7lb catch, earning 1st place and a $2,000 payout just before scales closed for the day. IRON LEADER brought another massive wahoo to the scales, weighing in at 42lbs, claiming $1,000 in daily prize money.
