Lines out Lines out for the 2024 Gold Cup!
That's a wrap! A heartfelt thank you to Bonnie Powell for calling the final lines out of the 2024 Gold Cup. It was a touching moment as Bonnie was the voice of this tournament for over 20 years. She is a mother hen to all of these crews and her presence is missed by so many. Tonight in her honor each of the crews in 1st - 4th place will get a cash award. Cheers to Bonnie. Thank you for everything.
And now, a big Congratulations to our repeat winner Fish Camp!!
Congratulations also going to today's daily winner, CU Leader with 6 releases, Liquidity on their second place win and Odyssey on their third place finish!

One for the History Books
Around the dock folks are blaming the pretty day and warm south wind for the slow bite. It's given me a little time to poke around the club and do some digging through the history books! This club is steeped in tradition, pictures on the wall commemorate the times Winston Churchill and Ernest Hemingway enjoyed here. Perpetual trophies are engraved with names of winners dating back decades.
The Master's Angling Tournament, an individual angler competition, was started here by John Rybovich in 1963. It was a hit, well attended, and the members wanted more. Nine years later, in 1972, The Gold Cup was created as a team event. Eventually, it became easier for people and boats to travel the world and the Master's Tournament was moved to Costa Rica, but the support of the Sailfish Club of Florida never wavered. Many members have fished both tournaments since the inception of the Gold Cup 52 years ago. In that time only one angler has won both. Until now.. Club Member and Fish Camp Co-Owner, Lach Cheatham, is poised to be the first double tournament winner since Warren Klawans in 1982. It's an incredible feat and one that will be etched in a new page of the history books.
Good luck Lach! Just a couple more hours, we would love to see you pull this one off!

If it was easy, they'd all do it.
Some of the most epic days of fishing start with a little adversity and/or mayhem. Fishing at this level isn't easy, it's hard.. and that's what makes it so special. Very few people in the world get to experience the beauty and the thrill of fishing the way this fleet does, and the gratitude is palpable.
Fish Camp is sitting pretty, but there are 14 other boats in the water today that could take their spot. It would be hard, but these teams aren't scared of that. All they need is one big day.
Congratulations to each of our daily winners, Odyssey, Liquidity, and Fish Camp. Last Day Suerte! Lots of trophies up for grabs. It's anyone's day.
Good Luck to our teams. Lines in Lines in.
