To all teams,
We have reached the halfway point in the tournament. Some really nice fish have come to the scale so far and I wanted to personally thank everyone for joining, fishing hard and supporting American Veterans & First Responders with some good ol fashioned offshore fun.
The weather is not great the next few days but hopefully it shapes up so everyone can get their trips in.
That being said, there are 4 boats who are in the tournament who have zero fish days so far. Those boats are locked in the tournament as announced at the captains meeting.
Section 6 Part A of the rules does mention people can back out for any reason so long as they have zero fish days, but at the captains meeting that was officially amended that unless you have legitimate boat mechanical failure, with proof, you are locked in after the captains meeting.
Teams are reminded of section 7 part D and E that rules may be altered at the discretion of tournament directors.
As far as Calcutta and winning them, a team may only take first and second place in a Calcutta if no other fish are caught in that Calcutta, once a team gets first, the next best fish of that Calcutta takes second. A team can not “sweep” a Calcutta by having the two biggest fish.
Finally, regarding the 3 yellowfin stringer. 3 yellowfin outplace any combination of two or one yellowfin. The only way 2 yellowfin or one yellowfin would win that Calcutta is if there were no teams with a combination of 3 yellowfin.
We hope this clarifies some questions and concerns for everyone and look forward to seeing you all at the scale. Everyone is again reminded that this is a charity tournament aimed at raising funding for Veterans & First Responders to enjoy fishing as a positive outlet.
Awards dinner is Sunday Sept 29th and tickets are on sale on our website www.hooksforheroes.org
