Green light for Captains meeting
Tomorrow night at Scotty’s/Buoy Bar 5pm-9pm
Tournament Saturday same rules apply.
If you cannot fish due to last weeks postponement we are deeply sorry for any inconvenience.
If you can still fish, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow night and hope to see you at the scale on Saturday.

⚠️‼️TOURNAMENT POSTPONED‼️⚠️
Due to the deteriorating marine forecast for tomorrow, we have made the decision to postpone the 5th Annual Scotty’s Charity Shark Tournament to NEXT WEEKEND. The safety of our participants is the utmost importance to us. The new dates will be:
Captain’s Meeting: Friday June 28th 2024 5-9pm
Tournament Date: Saturday June 29th 2024 same rules apply.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes anyone, and hope that you can still enter the tournament and have a fun day fishing to raise money for our nation’s Heroes.

If you were planning on fishing tomorrow, and your schedule does not allow for next weekend, we ask humbly that you please consider donating to Hooks For Heroes as these fundraising events are the main source of revenue to sustain the fishing trips that we sponsor for American Veterans & First Responders. We have many trips scheduled and planned for the months of July and August, and have the expenses of the Shark Tournament we are still “on the hook” for.

We know many of you have submitted your registrations ahead of time and we appreciate you all!
For those who have not registered, or partially filled out the forms, you DO NOT have to pay via the app, in fact, it is preferred to choose pay later by cash at captains meeting tomorrow so we can get the winners paid more efficiently. Nonetheless, do whichever is more convenient for you!

Weather looks wonderful for Saturday with a storm that spooked us all week coming in Sunday with less intensity than originally forecasted.

Tomorrow’s Captains Meeting will have our merch trailer and some awesome raffles from our sponsors. Buoy 4 and Go Palms will be set up for everyone to check out.

Will have premium baits and chum for everyone, so do not worry if the work week or life has made it difficult to get the bait you need.
PELAGIC OUTFITTERS
Chris over at Pelagic is going to set up his tent again providing everyone with tournament grade tackle and gear to help you be successful in this tournament. Bite leaders (wire & mono) wind on leaders, gloves, chum bags, gaffs, hooks, wire, weighted swivels, anything you need as far as pre made rigs or tackle for you yo make your own if needed.

This Friday June 21st from 5-9pm is the captains meeting.
Boats can leave out of Rockaway, Debs, Jones or Fire Island Inlet
You may leave from any head buoy at 6pm, so boats MAY travel to whichever head buoy they prefer to leave no earlier than 6am.
Weigh ins are at Scotty’s Marina, must be in line/in sight by 6pm to weigh a qualifying fish.

The Captains meeting will be held Friday June 21st from 5-9pm
Bait
Scotty’s Bait Tent will be there as always with premium fresh and frozen baits such as Bunker, Bluefish Mackerel and Squid. Frozen chum varieties will be Bunker Chum, Special Brew, Mackerel Chum and Bluefish Chum.
Tackle
Pelagic Outfitters will be set up as our tackle supply tent. They make top of the line shark tackle for you and your team to have the best chance possible at winning. Mono and Wire bite leaders, Mono Wind on leaders, cable shock leaders, blank wire, mono and cable if you prefer to make your own, non stainless non offset circle hooks of all sizes you prefer, gaffs, chum bags, floats, rubber bands, balloons, crimps and more.
Our goal is to make it a one stop shop for our participants, take away a little bit of the chaos leading up to tournament fishing. We understand most people have “their way” of doing it and we 100% respect that and encourage you to do so. We have all of this to make it easier for you and your crew if things don’t go as planned or you can’t make it to your local shop in time due to life’s curveballs.
We will have the best bait possible thanks to Scotty’s and the best tackle possible thanks to Pelagic Outfitters.
If you would like to reserve specific bait or tackle to be picked up and paid for at the captains meeting email info@hooksforheroes.org and we will make sure (and confirm with you) that it will be there with your name on it.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day Weekend, of course not forgetting the purpose of this holiday and the sacrifices made by so many Veterans for our freedom.
We have had a few more registrations on the App which is exciting.
Would like to remind everyone, Rockaway, Debs, Jones & Fire Island Inlets are all authorized inlets to leave from for this tournament.
Check in process is simply done with the app by starting trip, which will timestamp your gps position.
All boats can begin check-in at 0545 tournament day within a half mile of their respective head buoy.
