That's All Folks
Well, we have all had a chance to catch our breath... The Manasquan River Marlin & Tuna club would like to thank all of our participants and generous sponsors for making the 2022 MRMTC Bluefin Open the best one yet. Despite starting out with a grim weather forecast for the entire tournament we wound up having boats fishing 3 out of the 5 days. Saturday being a record 53 boats fishing in beautiful offshore weather.
The 2022 Bluefin Open had 80 boats entered, gave away over $160,000.00 in prize money (over $180,000.00 if you count all the goodies we gave away at the captain's meeting), and weighed in 1495lbs of bluefin tuna.
Chip Caruso was our big money winner taking home over $65,000.00 with his 151lb bluefin tuna caught on Friday. The bigger news is our biggest tuna ever caught in the Bluefin Open. Andrew Whiting and the crew of the 30ft Cobia "Deep Six" took top honors weighing in a very impressive 226lb Bluefin on Saturday wowing the the crowd that came to watch. This marks the 3rd year in a row that a center console boat swooped in to take home the first place trophy (and over $15,000.00 in prize money). The Bluefin Open and Manasquan Inlet has once again proven that its a level playing field like no other tournament and the only place to start the northeast tournament season.
We invite all of you to check out www.BluefinOpen.com or our Bluefin Open APP for full statistics, picture and video galleries, history of our 86yr old club, and all other info pertaining to this great event.
The Manasquan River Marlin & Tuna Club wishes all the best of luck with your 2022 fishing season. See you next year!

Day 5
Moving Day. We’ve reached our last day. Rainy weather for sure but the offshore conditions very fishable. We have 4 boats out there, and despite having a high mountain to climb (a 226lb Bluefin is a pretty high mountain) it is of course day 5, and things happen on the last day. Just ask last years winner, Matador, who weighed in the winning fish with only minutes to spare. Do any of our boats have a shot at moving the needle? Scale opens at 3:00, closes at 5:00.

Day 4
A wild day 4 has come to a close. Lots of fish.. some big, some small (and some too big!). The BIGest news is Andrew Whiting’s 30 foot Cobia, Deep Six showed the big boys how it’s done weighing in the tournament leading 226lb Bluefin Tuna. Congrats to Andrew and his crew. One more day left…

Calm Before the storm
Less than two hours til showtime. With 53 boats scheduled to return through Manasquan Inlet, and reports of some bigger fish being caught you can cut the tension with a knife. Looks like the rain will hold off so come down to the Pig & Parrot, grab a drink and enjoy the show!
