Video Reminders
All Boats,
With the great forecast this weekend and the last couple weeks of the Offshore Cup ahead, we want to stress the importance of taking clear catch videos. The biggest tip we can provide is to TAKE YOUR TIME. Try to slow down in the excitement and make sure you follow the Trip Instructions and get ALL the proper details on video. If you need a refresher, click on this link and read details thoroughly. https://www.offshorecup.com/trip-instructions. These details are also found on the back of your Trip Number cards.
Good Luck!

Bad Martha - Trip # 246 Blue Marlin
All Boats, we have reviewed one of the videos in question. The catch in question was a blue marlin on Bad Martha Trip # 246. In the beginning of following video, when the marlin charges the boat, you will see the mate clearly grab the rod in the mayhem. If you watch the video closely, you will also see that the yellow high-vis windon leader enters the rod a couple seconds prior to the mate grabbing the rod. Per IGFA and Tournament rules, once the windon has enter the rod, this signifies a valid catch/release and subsequently what happens after that is also valid, including mates grabbing the rod, line or angler. You will see in the video and audio that Bad Martha was aware of the windon and when the valid release occurred, but also went on to leader the fish again and fully release it. While the Tournament was confident we approved this catch correctly at the time, we also verified this directly with the IGFA today and they agreed with the interpretation and validity of the catch per IGFA rules. Again, this situation serves as a great example of the strength in the security of the Offshore Cup and the ability for ALL to review, question and confirm catches, all with video proof. It also serves as a GREAT example to use high-vis windon connections and take as much video as possible! By no means do we fault anyone for questioning this catch, as it was a tough one and needed close review. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and please let us know if you have any questions.
08/14/18 @ 4:08 PM
All boats, it has come to our attention that there has been some chatter regarding some catch videos being questioned for possible infractions. While some boats have had some catches disqualified this year, all current posted catches and scores have been approved to the best of our knowledge. That said, it is absolutely possible we have missed something or made a mistake. One of the benefits and security features of the Offshore Cup is that all boats get to review all catch videos themselves on the Activity Feed and may see something others miss. If anyone has seen something we may have missed, please contact Roland or Ted and bring it to our attention asap. Thank You

Hey Guys,
Just to inform everyone, Ted had an urgent matter come up and will get to everyone as soon as possible. We have verified that all boats and videos have been submitted!! Thank you for your patience.

IMPORTANT: Trip Numbers
All Boats,
Trip numbers are randomly generated in the App after you submit your Trip Start Video. This is the number to use in your catch videos.
You will see that Judy B used the #1 in their first Trip. The tournament spoke to Judy B on their way out and we see how they confused this instruction, thus have allowed the 67" Tuna that was caught.
Please make sure you use the correct Trip Number provided specifically for each Trip. This is how the Tournament can assure that fish was caught during that trip and in the timeframe recorded.
Thank you.

Rule Update/Change
All Boats, we have updated the rule regarding cancelled trips effective immediately. The main purpose of this rule is to allow teams to cancel a trip due to mechanical issues. We mistakenly created a way in which the trip cancellation rule could be exploited for a competitive advantage. Therefore, we have updated the rule with the inclusion of the following CAPITAL words to impose a 6 hour penalty in addition to a cancelled trip past the 4 hour mark.
New Updated Rule:
Trips may be cancelled at any time within the Tournament App or by calling the Tournament and receiving verbal or text confirmation from the Tournament. Any hours of a Trip cancelled within 4hrs of Trip Start Video shall NOT count towards the 100hr Trip Allowance. Any Trip cancelled after 4 Hours of Trip Start Video shall count towards the Team’s 100hr Trip Allowance, PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 6 HOURS. If a Team does NOT submit a Trip End Video prior to the end of their maximum 100hr Trip Allowance, that Trip shall be disqualified, but still count towards the 100hr Trip Allowance.
Example:
A boat cancels a trip 20 hours after their Trip Start Video. That trip will be cancelled with 0 points and they will have 26 hours deducted from their overall Trip Allowance.
